Coconut charcoal briquettes produced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are exported to Japan. This export to Japan is Indonesia’s first export for coconut charcoal briquettes.
The total export of coconut charcoal briquettes is one container. According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade, Suhanto, the export value reached US$ 19.2 thousand or Rp. 282.24 million (exchange rate of Rp. 14,700).
“This achievement was achieved by CV Coco Indonesia Maju as a participant in the Export Coaching Program (ECP) for the West Java region. The program is a collaboration between the Export and Trade Services HR Training Center (PPEJP) and the West Java Provincial Industry and Trade Office,” said Suhanto through his written statement, Monday (15/8/2022).
Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi revealed that coconut charcoal briquettes are in great demand in a number of countries, including Japan.
“The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo is ready to facilitate business actors in Indonesia to be able to market their products to Japan. It is hoped that the assistance program will be more massive to be able to encourage Indonesian exports to Japan,” explained Heri.
The Head of the PPEJP Training Center Sugih Rahmansyah expressed his appreciation to CV Coco Indonesia Maju as a West Java millennial SME that has succeeded in making its first export even though it has only entered the 4th stage of the eight ECP stages.
For information, the total trade between Indonesia and Japan in 2021 will reach US$ 32.5 billion. Meanwhile, in January-July 2022, the total was recorded at US$ 20.2 billion, up 38.9% compared to the same period the previous year. Indonesia’s exports to Japan were recorded at US$ 11.8 billion, while Indonesia’s imports from Japan were US$ 8.4 billion.
